Why I'm a Chaplain at the U of A:  Every evil action on earth is the result of a diseased heart.  It is only a sick heart that can steal, lie, cheat and senselessly harm other people.  I have had the honour of sitting in the presence of enlightened humans who have removed diseases like envy and hatred from their hearts and are luminaries of our times.  We have a billion-dollar healthcare system (which ought to be called a disease-care system) that treats people after they become physicially sick; what we really need are spiritual cardiologists who can help humans cure the diseases of our spiritual hearts.  In my limited experience, University students are passionate about improving the world which begins by improving your own heart.

Current Focus at the U of A:  I want to be a resource to people who want to know more about traditional Islam.  Outside of this role, I have an interest in professionalism in the non-profit sector.  In particular I am intersted in developing a fusion of best practices from Islamic history and modern management theory (one of the reasons I am pursuing an MBA).  I also have an interest in various links between medicine and Islam.

Other Passions & Interests:  I like traveling, hiking, woodworking and playing with my kids.  In the winter I have a slight problem saying no to hockey.  May God forgive me (and you).
