Religious Affiliation: Presbyterian Church in Canada

At the U of A Since: Have been the Presbyterian Chaplain at the U of A since 2002
Why I'm a Chaplain at the U of A: I believe that university is an opportunity for individuals to explore and develop their spiritual nature as well as their intellect.
Current Focus at the U of A: For students and staff I offer supportive counseling using Self Regulation Therapy (SRT) - it is a non-cathartic mind/body approach aimed at diminishing excess activation in the nervous system after a traumatic experience. SRT works by providing a safe, contained environment in which the individual can complete the thwarted responses of fight, flight or freeze. By resourcing the client, new neural pathways are developed to flexibly manage daily challenges and stressors. I am also available for Spiritual Direction or just plain old relaxed conversation.
Other Passions & Interests: In addition to working at the U of A, I am a sessional instructor at Grant MacEwan University and a member of the Psychosocial and Spiritual Resource Department at the Cross Cancer Institute where I support cancer patients and their families in my role as Spiritual Care Coordinator. I am also a therapeutic clown - bringing smiles and joys to patients and their families. I have two clown personalities: Sugar Magnolia (a southern lady of class and refinement) and Melody Magic (a singer, storytelling entertainer).
I would love to have the opportunity to meet you. Please give me a call - let's get together for a lively conversation and few belly laughs!
