From: I grew up in Ontario but am an Edmontonian for 24 years.
Background: I am a WASP (White Anglo Saxon Protestant) for many generations.
Family: I have family from coast to coast including what we call chosen family: Friends who are like family to us. Presently we have a 26 year old daughter and a 20 year old son living at home with us along with a cat and 8 goldfish in our Pond out back. We will soon have a married son and daughter in law.
Religious Affiliation: I am a Diaconal Minister in the United Church of Canada (ask me about the difference between being Ordained and Diaconal - I'm used to it!).
Educational History: Masters of Theological Studies, St. Stephen’s College, AB; Diploma from Centre for Christian Studies, Toronto; Bachelor of Music, McMaster University.
At the U of A since: I have been a chaplain at the University of Alberta since 2001.
Why I'm a Chaplain at the U of A: Chaplaincy is a great vocation of spiritual accompaniment to people in an academic
environment.
Current Focus at the U of A: I focus on encouraging people to grow in spirit and faith as they grow in knowledge and life experience in a variety of ways: study, discussion, personal support, social action, and more.
Other Passions & Interests: I enjoy the out of doors, hiking, camping and horseback riding whenever possible. I also enjoy all kinds of music and dancing.
